Narrative Description of Project:

This project is intended to construct a full fledged container terminal in Semarang Port to cope with the growing demand for efficient handling of the rapidly increasing container cargo.  The project components include :

1)         Container wharf (-10 m deep, 345 m long);

2)         Retaining wall (407 m long);

3)         Revetment (2,510 m long in total);

4)         Container yard (7 ha) with CFS (3,600 m2), maintenance shop (1,600 m2), workshop (1,350 m2) and office buildings and utilities;

5)         Navigation channel and basin dredging (2,096,000 m3);

6)         Reclamation (650,000 m3);

7)         Foundation improvement (106,000 m2); and

8)         Access road (1 km long).

Description of Actual Services Provided by Your Staff:

The consulting services provided by our staff cover the following :

1)       Study on existing wharf productivity and port capacity in 1995, optimum site for additional container wharf, and on environmental protection and management strategy for the port;

2)       Review of existing designs of project facilities, and detailed designs of project facilities;

3)       Review and revision of original prequalification and bidding documents and cost estimates;

4)       Assistance in bidding; prequalification announcement and evaluation, tender announcement and evaluation, and contract negotiation and award;

5)       Supervision of construction works;

6)       Final inspection of container terminal facilities before expiry of Defects Liability Period;

7)       Technology transfer; and

8)       Final inspection of project facilities before expiry of maintenance period.
