Narrative Description of Project:
Main objectives of the study are 1) to prepare a master plan for comprehensive development of the port complexes in SFEA including Thi Vai – Vung Tau development in comparison with Vung Tau (Ben Dinh – Sao Mai), and 2) to prepare a short-term development of the ports in SFEA and to carry out a feasibility study for the priority projects (target year 2010). As a result of the study, Lower Cai Mep International Container Terminal (LCC) and Thi Vai International Multipurpose Terminal (TMT), each consisting of the project components shown below, were selected as the priority projects :
LCC : Container wharf of 600 m long, reclamation of 39 ha, foundation improvement works, container yard of 376,000 m2, CFS and other buildings, utilities, post-panamax 40-ton quayside container cranes and transfer cranes, and access road of 3 km.
TMT : General cargo wharf of 600 m long, reclamation of 24.6 ha, foundation improvement works, port basin dredging of 240,000 m3, terminal yard of 225,100 m2, transit shed and other buildings, utilities, 40-ton quayside multipurpose cranes and 20-ton quayside jib cranes, access road of 2 km.
In addition, navigation channel dredging of 9,090,000 m3 leading to LCC and TMT, and supply and installation of light buoys (43 units) along the navigation channel, Vessel Traffic System (VTS) and computer system are included.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Your Staff:
Consulting services provided by our staff cover the following :
1) Formulation of master plan for comprehensive development of port complex;
2) Natural conditions and environmental surveys for feasibility study including EIA;
3) Investigation of port conditions in Thailand and Cambodia;
4) Holding of technology transfer seminar;
5) Basic design, construction planning, and cost estimate of navigation channel and basin, container and general cargo berths, container terminal, multi-purpose terminal, access road, buildings, quayside container cranes and transfer cranes, VTS and other navigation aids, etc.;
6) Feasibility study and comprehensive recommendations; and
7) Preparation of Draft Final Report and Final Report.
